How to "snapshop" to the narrate tab in the latest version (12.2.4.2)

I thought I could "freeze" the canvas that I put in my narration but it continues to change based on what I do on the Visualize tab. I've tried turning off the "synchronize" setting and it still keeps changing! Any tips???
**UPDATE: After further playing around it seems that I can "freeze" the narrations/stories from a filter perspective but if I change the format/definition of the underlying canvas it will be reflected in the relative stories (i.e. removing a column). I would have hoped that I had the option to truly freeze that story no matter what I do later to the base canvas. If this is the case it's disappointing.....
