what is the process to migrate column and formats from one environment to another

Metadata folder in catalog is read only by the administrator account when opening the folder in online mode using catalog manager. Is there any alternative way of migrating formats for a subject area to different instance

    Hi,

    Have you tried archiving the metadata folder from the source environment, and, then un-archiving it into the folder - "System Folders" of the target environment?
