Method for restoring the OAC Data Modeler after loading RPD file

Content

I was doing some testing and uploaded a net new RPD file to an OAC development instance, through the BI Admin tool. After testing, I restored the instance via a snapshot.

Prior to loading the RPD, this instance had the ability to utilize the native OAC Data Model tool. After restoring the snapshot, I attempted to open the OAC Data Model and was giving the error: Please use Oracle BI Administration Tool to manage your model.

Is there a method for restoring the native OAC Data Model tool?

Version

OAC 6.1

  • Do you have a snapshot made right after the instance was created, before you did anything with admin tool?

Are you saying that snapshot is not restoring the instance to allow access to the web base data modeler?

If you opened RPD from Cloud did you save a local copy before editing and publishing?

Does current RPD still have the DUMMY in all 3 layers?  if so have you tried stripping out all but those and republishing?

Does the instance have anything critical in it that prevents you from just blowing it away an starting over or creating new and copying over content?

If you upload a semantic model (RPD), access to OAC Data Modeler will get disabled. OAC Data Modeler can only access models created with the Data Modeler. Models created with Admin Tool may include advanced features like aggregate navigation, fragmentation that are not supported in Data Modeler.

I restored the instance with a backup taken while the OAC Native Data Modeling capabilities were still available. When I view this RPD in the BI Admin tool it still has the Dummy in all 3 layers.

I think the resolution is going to be creating an entirely new instance...

  • so the restore of snapshot when web based model was available did not get you back to that?

Have you tried uploading the DUMMY rpd in the snapshot import?  that might reset the online modeler

    That is understood.

What I'm attempting to do is restore the OAC Native Data Modeling to an OAC Instance using a Snapshot of a separate OAC instance that has the OAC Native Data Modeling capabilities.
