'Publish for Subscription' in OTBI Agent
Content
Hi, can anyone point me to any information on how to best utilise this feature within OTBI agents. Ideally I am looking to establish a way to set an agent to notify recipients when an analysis has been run and data produced but not physically send it as an attachment (due to the inability to password protect the file). I wondered if the Subscription functionality is the way to do this but I haven't really used it before so am a little unsure of what it's meant to do
Apologies if this is documented somewhere obvious, I just can't seem to find anything.
Many thanks
Linda

The subscription functionality is like a newsletter you sign up to. Like subscribing to the "Best Selling Products" analysis.
Your requirement sounds like something different. You say "When an analysis has been run" - like "when somebody / anybody used the analysis"?

I am not aware of a way to do this, but I know that through BI Publisher, you can schedule a report to run and then send the user a link to the report when it's complete. This will eliminate the attachment and require users to sign in to pull the data. If this can be done via OTBI/Agents, I too would love to know how to do this.

Hi Christian
Thanks for replying.
It may well be that the subscribe functionality is indeed separate to my desired objective of notifying a recipient that an analysis has been run automatically by the OTBI agent (schedule) and containing a link for the recipient to click on to access the data.
The latter is what ideally I would like to happen, and so I wondered if subscribing allows for the same end result i.e. the recipient is made aware that the results from a scheduled analysis are available for them to go and retrieve somewhere?

Thanks Prudence, yes, as you describe it working for BIP is what I am seeking in OTBI / agents, if at all possible !
