Summary:

How do we grant a user access to see all job history not just their own?

Content (required):

We are trying to grant access a power user access to all job histories for not just their own job histories in OTBI. They have the BI Author role. What controls this access? Do they require another role?

  • There are 2 options here :

    1) To look at all schedules, a user would need BI Administrator Role.

    OR

    2) While creating the Schedule, Select "Make Output Public" to make this job output available to all users with permission to access that specific report. Users with access can view the report from the Report Job History page.

  • Hi Team,

is there any specific privilege/s that I can add to custom BI Author role that gives the user access to see other people report history and also be able to send the file from the same page in case the delivery failed. Currently for custom BI Author role, send, XML data, other buttons on report job history is disabled. I want to enable all this for a user without giving them BI Admin role.

  • Go to Application policies and give this permission (oracle.bi.publisher.administerServer ) to your application role.

  • Hi @Emil_M_ ,

Could you please guide us how to add the permission (oracle.bi.publisher.administerServer ) in our custom JOB role. As we are not seeing any Add option to add the permisssion in our custom job role.

    Hi,

Unfortunately the out of the box OTBI roles BIAdministrator, BIDataModelDeveloper, BIAuthor, BIConsumer, unlike other job roles, they do not have any "inherited roles" or "function security policy" privileges in them that you can edit in a custom version in security console like the other job roles to change behavious. This is because they are just "placeholders" in fusion applications pointing to the "real" roles over on the other side of the fence in the actual application server middleware that is hosting oracle business intelligence. But because we are SaaS you do not have access to the business intelligence application server like you do on pass and on-premise to open up the role to view the various privileges inside it to keep or throw some away.

    What you can do is

go in OTBI to page Manage Privileges to change what it is that a role or user is allowed to do in OTBI

or go to the catalog to edit the file and folder read write run permissions in on or under folder Custom.
