Ability to identify impacted OTBI or BIP reports by Quarterly Update
Organization Name
GE Company
Description
Oracle delivers major changes (new features, bug fixes, enhancements) via Upgrade(quarterly update), and it often changes Subject Areas or table structures referenced in existing OTBI or BIP reports. As we need to identify impacted reports and remediate them but it's all manual work, we are looking for a better impact analysis option. It will be a great help if there is any query or tool which can be used to generate list of impacted OTBI/BIP reports by upgrade(quarterly update).
Use Case and Business Need
1. If any subject area changes or obsoleted by upgrade(quarterly update) and any of OTBI reports referring to those subject areas is not remediated then the reports will fail and it will negatively impact business operations.
2. similar to OTBI, if any table structure changes and any of BIP reports referring to those tables is not remediated then the reports will fail and it will negatively impact business operations.

Agree with this post. A manual and very time consuming process for every upgrade. We need to know what changes have taken place in order to be more focused in our testing.

I totally agree with this post. Every time we have a patch it is such a pain and huge manual effort. Every patch especially related to table changes, BI reports have to be analyzed each and every time manually.
Same thing on OTBI, although some info at high level is in release notes, we literally gotta check everything each and every patch.

This would indeed be a great help with the upgrade testing.

What is needed for the BI reports is an upgrade validation process. Which the customer can run that scans the BI reports for potential issues (prior) to the upgrade being applied. Now that's would be very nice!
