I was really excited about the opportunity to upload custom reference knowledge to make life much easier for my end users, however I ran into an issue where even if the key column in a custom reference knowledge upload file is saved as text and identified correctly by OAC/OAS as an attribute, if the string only contains numbers then we receive an error saying that only short text is allowed as the key. This was surprising to me given that one of the delivered enrichments is for zip code, which often contains numbers stored as text.
The use case is straight forward: many users will have a spreadsheet of financial information. Let's say they have cost center and object code, maybe a transaction date, transaction description, and amount. What I want is to allow them to enrich cost center (in our world is five-character attribute that usually contains only numbers) and object (four numeric characters, but an attribute not a measure) with the text description, without having to create a join to the Chart of Accounts subject area.
Alas, I cannot do this today in OAC/OAS, as confirmed by Oracle Support. Join me in helping my users take advantage of enrichment!
