Hello,

I want to export a table visualisation as Excel file and I found a strange behavior. The Preview Excel Export is enabled in Settings.

The 3 steps to reproduce the bug are:

Step 1 : Open the workbook. Click Export from toolbar, then File. Only the .pptx, pdf and .png formats are proposed in list.

Step 2: Right click on table visualisation, then Export->File. I see also the .csv and the .xlsx format

Step3: Export workbook again. All the 5 options are availables including .csv and .xlsx

Thanks,

Daniel

  • Hi @Daniel Vornicu ,

Could it be that an administrator already enabled it in your OAC instance?

The feature must be enabled only once, not every time that you want to export to Excel.

    Hello,

Of course, I activated the 'Preview Excel Export' as an administrator and only once. It's still activated for all the users.

Then I connect as a normal user or admin doesn't matter. The first time I don't see the excel format in Export workbook.

@Daniel Vornicu .. Just checked it. Yes, you are right. It looks like product issue when we open a workbook.

I tested it with table view and Bar chart (for Bar Chart, we only have 4 options, .xlsx is not there but have same behaviour).

But this is not happening in edit mode. In Edit mode, All the 5 options are available including .csv and .xlsx while doing "Export from toolbar" or Right click on table visualisation, then Export->File.

  • Hi @Daniel Vornicu ,

I'm sorry I didn't read properly your first post.

This is the expected behaviour. You can export to Excel only table or pivot visualizations.

The option is not available when you try to export the entire workbook, or visualizations other than table or pivot.

@Daniel Vornicu Could you please try this ?

=> Open a workbook with only table view

=> Click on Export option from the toolbar

=> you will see only 3 options (.pptx, pdf and .png formats)

=> Click anywhere in the workbook (no need to Right click on table visualisation, then Export->File) and check again the Export option from the toolbar, you will see all 5 options 😊

  • I can't think of a reason this should happen. I can reproduce it for my OAC as well.

[Update] -- it is actually working as expected. The difference is that the export to excel works for just one visual. When you select the visual in the canvas ... this let's the export button in the chrome know that you are able to export one visual in excel format.

While I do agree this can be a bit confusing, the thinking is that it is more clear than the export not working when you export a "whole canvas" and it does not work. In the current design, you will get the visual you have selected. One improvement could be to allow you to select a visual, and that would be a new capability we don't have yet in this experience.
