OAS 2023

In OAS Classic view under my account, the standard setting for user interface behaves weird.

When doing the following actions:

- Navigating to my account in OAS Classic view

- Setting the user interface language to any language other than standard and then clicking ok

- Navigating to my account in OAS Classic view

- Setting the user interface language to "default"

The following happens:

- OAS shows that the "Default" is the previous specific language the user has chosen, not the standard of the server or a value in the config files.

For example. "Standard - norwegian" if my most recently set language was norwegian and then "Standard - swedish" if my previously set language was swedish.

This is very confusing. The standard or default should be a value that is not set by the user.

Am I misunderstanding something? I raised a Service request to Oracle, but they did not seem to understand there was an issue.

Is this a known issue?

Hahaha far from it. You're totally on the right track. It's 100% system configurable in many different ways (see here for example) but it's just that the end user wins at the end of the day as soon as they click something else.

An ER is your best option for the moment.

"This is very confusing. The standard or default should be a value that is not set by the user."

Standard/default are value not set by the user unless/until the user selects his own choice. Then that choice gets written into the user's profile and is the new setting for that user.

So if a user modifies things then that's what wins. User's choice.

While I do understand that, it is unclear for the user when selecting standard/default.

If I choose default settings in any system, I expect it to look up a config file of some sort, not what I myself as a user chose in a previous selection.

Agreed it's more of a "My default" setting rather than "System default" setting once you've chose another language.

To get back to the system default you'd have to wipe the user's profile in the catalog.

Ok, then I conclude that I am not completely stupid, thank you!

I've gone ahead and left an enhancement request to suggest an "improvement".
