Oracle PIM Item Attachments

We are looking to maintan a content management repository(possibly an FTP folder or a site) where we maintain all the images for the items and use them as attachments as type URL or Repository/Folder. Once an attachment is made for the item and org combination, any updates to the image is expected to be managed in the repository(Replacing the image with a new one- with same name) , so that it directly reflects the attachment we see in PIM. Is there a way we can do it ?
