Oracle Analytics Desktop connection and installation error

Good day Guys

I was using an older version of Oracle Analytics Desktop and it was working fine until one day it decided not to connect to my local installation of Oracle Database 18c Express Edition Release 18.0.0.0.0 anymore. I deleted the old connection and tried to create a new connection as previously done, but when I try to save, it gives me a "Failed to save the connection, Internal error". I can connect to this same database using the same username/password using SQL developer, SQL Plus and PowerBI.

Then, I downloaded the January2025 edition of Oracle Analytics Desktop and tried to install it as local user and administrator user, but the installation fails after few seconds saying "Oracle Analytics Desktop setup wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run setup wizard again".

How do I check what is going wrong when I try to create a new connection in the existing OAD or when I try to install the latest version of OAD?

How do I upload a picture from the laptop in this forum?

    Hi,

Welcome to the Oracle Analytics community and forum.

I can't really help you much with OAD because I didn't use it for the past 4+ years, so that part will need to wait for somebody else having more hands-on experience with recent releases of it. All I remember is that the front-end give you a generic error, while in the log files you find the detailed reasons for the error (or at least some extra info). I just don't remember right now where the logs of OAD are located…

For the picture, you can either "paste" it directly when you are writing. Or you can upload one from your laptop clicking that image icon at the bottom-left of the area where you write.
