Could someone tell me if I am seeing an "expected" behavior, or is this something that (has been)/(should be) reported as a bug:

No Color Selection.jpg

Notice that only the fact columns are highlighted.

Now go back and DO select an alternate style color.  The alternating row highlight now spans all columns, as I had intended and expected.

Is that the way it is supposed to work?

Are you sure you didn't set the background colouring as white for the dimension?

I did not set a background color for the column.  I did PRECISELY what I took the time to document with an annotated screenshot.  This is occurring in all subject areas, including Sample Sales.

I presume that you tested the scenario by taking 30 seconds to do exactly what I described in the annotated screenshot.  When you did, what happened in your 11g system?  Did it work "properly"?  If so, what version of 11g are you running?

Haven't got a .7 under my hands unfortunately. I tried in .9 and got the colouring span across all columns (not only fact)

    Hope it helps.

Btw I, as others are voluntary helping so a kind reply is always well accepted.  I was suggesting something to check based on my experience, not saying you did wrong or something... I'm not a magician and didn't know if you did additional steps.

What browser and version are you using? Could you check the certification matrix http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/bi-11gr1certmatrix-166168.xls

I'm seeing the same behavior in:

    Chrome Version 54.0.2840.99 m

    Firefox 49.0.2

    Microsoft Edge 38.14393.0.0

    Internet Explorer 11.447.14393.01S

Because it has been reported as NOT happening in 11.1.1.9, I will presume that it is just a bug in .7 that has been fixed.  I'll check it out on .9 when I get to that release.

Thank you for confirming that it works properly in 11.1.1.9.  Because it behaves the same in 4 different browser in 11.1.1.7, I'm going to just assume that it's a .7 bug that has been fixed in .9.  Marking your answer as 'Correct'.

Just an addition for what @FTisiot said about a background colouring. I can reproduce your exact issue using precisely what you did.

-1. Set white background to "Location" column.

    0. Save this format as a default for this column.

<exit, close browser, forget about it>

    1. Create a new report.

    2. Enable alternating styling -> Location background still white.

    3. Change alternating colour -> Location colour changed.

OK, excellent!  it's good to learn a set of steps that will recreate the symptoms, even though that wasn't what I did.  Still, doing exactly what I did sort of feels like a bug.  Anyway, good to know it went away in 11.1.1.9.
