Connection in Data Diagram not able to be deleted, withouth deleting all connections?

Hi all

There is probably something in my understanding that is lacking, but when i'am trying to create a neat snowflake data diagram ❄️ in an OAC workbook, It is creating joins, that I can not delete, without deleting all joins?

The Dataset Financial - DTU - Account Analysis Custom should be in the center of the snowflake. I am adding two datasets, that has the same key-field, but with different names (ID_1 and Key_2)…

So they are the same values, but different names, and when I create the link between the centerpiece and one of the extra tables, the connection is being established correctly… Then I create the link between the centerpiece and the other dataset and all of a sudden the data diagram looks like this and I ca not delete the connection between the two datasets, that are not supposed to be connected, without deleting all 3 connections…

I'm worried that it will eventually cause som troubles, but I don't know, would just really like to keep the data diagram as a snowflake and not some big diamond, because all of the datasets are connected 😄

Anyone who knows if there is anything to do about it? 🤞

Line 2 should not be present and the Project number should be visible in line 2, as illustrtaed below:

Okay, so it was (partly) my understanding of the data diagram that was not fully up to date 😉

I have now come to terms with the fact, that this is how it works, but I'm still struggling to make it work correct: I have taken a quite simple case here, where I want to connect some data from a dataset that I have created and attach it to the Configurable Account Analysis SA.

The keys are still the same, but for some reason, the join creates 2 lines on the same linkID

There is only 1 line i the subledger on the specific LinkID, but the data that I'm joining to the line, is doubling the lines and only showing the added data (Project Number) on the empty line, and the rest of the Subject Area info is in the first line… Do you or anyone else have any idea of what the issue could be?

Thank you for posting the question. If the datasets you have are all facts — you will need to use blending. Don’t think of this as modeling joins. Blending desvribes relationships and the join behavior can be changed with each viz. see these docs.  Note — blending is between data assets and can’t be different for different workbooks.

if you have sat one fact and multiple dimensions, you can use a dataset to model star schemas. Depending on your data you may need more than one dataset — as datasets are currently limited to a fact table with dimensions and dimension extensions.
