Enable “Select All Columns” Functionality in BI Publisher Layout Editor for Data Models
When creating a BI Publisher report in Oracle Fusion, users first define a Data Model, which can include numerous columns (often between 15 and 120+ fields). Currently, in the Layout Editor, users must manually select and drag each column from the Data Model one by one to the report layout. This process is highly time-consuming, error-prone, and inefficient, especially for reports requiring all or most of the fields from the Data Model. There is no option to select all columns at once or to auto-populate the layout with all data elements.
This manual drag-and-drop approach becomes impractical for large or frequently changing data models.
Add a feature in BI Publisher’s Layout Editor that allows users to select all columns from the Data Model and auto-insert them into the layout in a single action.
Possible implementations:
- “Select All Columns” button in the Data Model pane of the Layout Editor.
- Context menu option: Right-click → “Insert All Columns.”
- Auto-generate layout option that quickly creates a tabular layout with all available data fields
Use case:
A Finance team needs to create a “Supplier Invoice Audit Report” using a BI Publisher Data Model that has 50+ columns across multiple joins.
Currently, the user must manually drag each column to the table in the layout that is very cumbersome and take some time and causing high potential for missed fields.
With a “Select All Columns” feature, the same setup could be completed in under a minute.

Dear Community,
Working with Oracle Reports and Analytics for some time now, I always wondered why I need to drag each column one by one, please share your comments and vote if it will be useful for you.
Thanks
