Unable to Synchronize Application Roles with RPD in Cloud Mode

Hello,

I am currently using the Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) environment and I am unable to synchronize the security rules (Application Roles) with the RPD in Cloud mode.

In the legacy environment (OBIEE 12c), I used to open the RPD in Online mode and perform this operation through the Manage → Identity menu.

However, in OAC, I can only open the RPD in Cloud mode, and the option “Synchronize Application Roles” is disabled.

Could someone please confirm whether it is indeed not possible to open the RPD in Online mode in OAC?

Additionally, could you please share any official OAC documentation that explains how to synchronize user and role security with the RPD in this environment?

Hi Alvaro,

The newer Semantic Modeler is not only for Workbooks, it is the replacement for the "thick" Model Admin Tool..

Can you explain your use case for what you are wanting to accomplish by synching the application roles in the RPD? Some customers are just used to the way they did it with an older on-prem  product, so it would be helpful for the community to understand your end goal, so that more effective suggestions can be provided.

Regarding the newer semantic model, I am connecting to RPD in Cloud mode using the Model Admin Tool for OAC and the URLs you shared dated from 2021.

So it means this feature is not possible using the classic approach only using the DV layer ?

Thanks for you question. This is intentional for the classic modeling tool. The capabilities are included in the newer Semantic Modeler.
