When creating or uploading a dataset in Oracle Analytics, it would be extremely helpful to have a built-in option to enable indexing right at the dataset creation stage.
At the moment, we have to first create the dataset, then go into Data → Inspect → Indexing and manually turn it on. This is extra navigation and easy to miss, especially when working with multiple datasets.
Requested Enhancement
Add a checkbox/option during:
- Dataset Upload
- Dataset Creation (from DB, files, subject areas, etc.)
to allow the user to choose:
- Enable Indexing
- Indexing Scope Preference:
- Dashboard Only
- Dashboard + Homepage (Search / Spotlight / Recommendation surfacing)
Why This Is Needed
- Saves time and removes unnecessary steps.
- Ensures datasets are optimized for search and performance from the start.
- Avoids users forgetting to index later and the go back and indexing it.
- Makes dataset creation more complete and intuitive, especially for power users managing multiple datasets.
This small enhancement will significantly improve usability and streamline dataset preparation inside Oracle Analytics.
