Hi,

I have upgraded OAS 2024 to OAS 2025 (8.2) with all the patches I could find and everything seems fine. Instalation is on Windows server. I have installed also corresponding OAS client, setup ODBC connections and everything works ok.

The issue is when I try to Import Metadata or view data on physical table… Administration tool just shuts down.

I don't know where to look - are there any specific logs for admin tool?

BR,

Tilen

    Hi,

Are you using the admin tool on the same server where your OAS is installed?

Do you have the same behaviour when running the admin tool on a different environment (laptop, desktop)?

    Hi Gianni,

interesting view. I had OAS Client only on server where OAS is installed. Now I try install it on separate workstation and there works ok. I tried to uninstall and reinstall on OAS server but still not working.

But at least I have a workaround.

    Thank you!

  • The few times I had to work with a Windows Server for OAS (I always go for linux if I can), I noticed the admin tool always had issues. That's why it is safer to use it for what it is: a client tool and not a server tool.

On the server all the command line scripts that comes with the admin tool are anyway present already, and not having the admin tool on the server means less people touching that Windows environment, with less risks of somebody breaking everything. But that's just me disliking Windows Server of OAS :D

I never fully explored the topic to be fair (I imagine some overlap in the oracle home and domain definition as the admin tool kind of comes with it's own close to full OAS install) I just usually avoid relying on an admin tool on the same server as OAS.
