Global Workforce Risk Index
1. Which dataset did you use?
I used publicly available, authoritative global datasets, integrated into a single analytical model:
- World Bank – unemployment rates and macroeconomic indicators
- ILO (International Labour Organization) – employment and labor force statistics
- OECD – productivity and workforce-related indicators
These datasets were combined to construct a composite Global Workforce Risk Index, covering approximately 180 economies over the period 2010–2024.
2. How did you analyze or prepare the data?
Data preparation followed a structured workflow:
- Removed regional aggregates, income groups, and program classifications to retain only economy-level entities
- Standardized country/economy names and validated year continuity
- Normalized all indicators to a 0–1 scale for fair comparison
A composite Workforce Risk Index was then constructed using unemployment, productivity, education, and labor intensity.
Analysis included time-series trends (2010–2024), top/bottom risk rankings, distribution analysis, correlation analysis, and driver heatmaps to understand risk dynamics over time. All preparation and analysis were performed in Oracle Analytics Cloud, ensuring transparency and reproducibility.
3. Who is the intended audience for your visualization?
The visualization is primarily designed for policy makers and international development organizations who need a clear, data-driven view of workforce risk across economies. It is also relevant for economic and workforce strategists seeking to understand long-term risk trends and the key drivers of workforce risk, including unemployment, productivity, and education.
The dashboard balances executive-level storytelling with analytical depth, making it actionable for decision-makers while remaining credible and insightful for analysts.
4. What is your visualization about, and what question or problem does it address?
This visualization presents a Global Workforce Risk Index that examines how workforce risk has evolved across economies from 2010 to 2024.
It addresses the core question:
Which economies are most exposed to workforce risk today, what factors drive that risk, and how has it changed over time?
Key insights revealed by the analysis include:
- Workforce risk declined globally in the pre-COVID period, but recovery remains uneven and fragile
- Unemployment acts as a powerful risk amplifier, especially when combined with low productivity and weak education systems
- High-risk economies experience greater volatility and slower post-shock recovery
- Workforce risk functions as a policy early-warning signal, not just a descriptive statistic
The dashboard supports early intervention, emphasizing that today’s workforce risk can translate into long-term economic and social instability if left unaddressed.
5. Did you use any Oracle Analytics AI features when building your visualization (ex. AI Assistant)? If so, please describe how they were used
No advanced Oracle Analytics AI features (such as the AI Assistant or automated insights) were explicitly used in this visualization.
6. Did you upload your visualization image and dva file?
Yes, I did.

Thank you for sharing @Nikhil Anneboina! I'd be interested to see the factors that contribute to the highest (South Africa) and lowest risk (Cuba).
