Currently, when defining selection steps in DV, you can select any ancestry level of a specific item within the hierarchy e.g. Descendants of an item in Cost Center Level 30.
It would be really useful if selection steps could be driven by a parameter or variable so that you can define a specific entry point. This may be different to the security setting. For example, General Ledger data is secured as standard at Ledger level. Customers often don't want to restrict security but want users such as budget holders to enter workbooks at their delegated entity. This could be set up as a table in the Data Warehouse or as a session variable so a parameter could be created for this. You could then se the filter as Keep Only Descendants+ of @Parameter{Budget Holder}.
This would save budget holders a lot of time having to set their filters each time for theor delegated areas.
