How Can I create a Reporting only Recruiting role?

Hi Folks!

I want to create a custom role that provides access to all BIP reports and OTBI Analyses under a specific folder — Shared Folders/Custom/Custom Reports/Recruitment — while ensuring that users with this role do not have access to any recruitment-related options in the UI.

For this, I created a Job Role with the following privileges:

BI Consumer, Transactional Analysis Duty, Recruiting Transactional Analysis Duty, Recruiting Sourcing Transactional Analysis Duty

I then created a Data Role, added all the required security profile accesses, and assigned folder-level permissions to this Data Role.

On the UI side, everything looks fine — there are no recruitment-related options visible to the user, which is the expected behavior.

However, the issue is with running OTBI Analyses. When the user with this custom role tries to run an OTBI Analysis, it takes an extremely long time and eventually times out. But when I run the same analysis using a Super User, it executes perfectly without any issues.

Could anyone help me understand what might be causing this timeout for the custom role? Is there any additional privilege or permission that I might be missing? Or Any other insights on the process that I'm following while creating the role?

Hi Naman,

Welcome to Oracle Analytics and AI community.

OTBI returns data based on your data access. If the user is unable to view the data in UI, they won't be able to get the results in OTBI Analysis as well.

Your report only role can work for BIP.

Thanks for the reply!

As a further test, I assigned the 'Recruiting Admin' role (which has super user-level access) to a test user instead of the custom role I had created — however, the OTBI Analyses are still timing out for that user as well.

This makes me think the issue might not be related to roles/privileges at all, but perhaps something else entirely. Any insights on what could be causing this?
