Currently, workbooks and metrics built using Custom Subject Areas are not consistently visible in the Content Explorer or Metric Canvas within Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI). This limitation reduces discoverability, reusability, and overall adoption of custom analytics assets.
Enabling Custom Subject Area workbooks to be displayed in the Content Explorer will provide users with a single, centralized location to discover and manage both standard and custom analytics content. This improves reporting efficiency, reduces duplicate workbooks, and promotes reuse of certified reports, thereby improving governance and consistency across the organization.
Additionally, allowing Custom Subject Area–based metrics to be displayed in the Metric Canvas will empower business users and analysts to reuse standardized metrics while building dashboards and workbooks. This ensures metric consistency across reports, minimizes manual recalculations, and reduces the risk of conflicting KPIs being used by different teams.
From a business perspective, this enhancement delivers the following benefits:
- Improved productivity by reducing time spent recreating reports and metrics
- Stronger data governance through reuse of approved analytics assets
- Higher adoption of FDI analytics by enabling full parity between standard and custom subject areas
- Better decision‑making due to consistent and trusted metrics across dashboards
Overall, this enhancement aligns with the strategic goals of self‑service analytics, standardization, and scalability, while maximizing the return on investment in custom subject area development.
