During our FDI implementation, we have identified data hygiene issues in our Fusion application in terms of compatibility with Oracle FDI and its data pipeline. Some of those issues, such as duplicate Terminations on the same day for the same assignment, manifested as part of the delivered rejected records process as soon as we turned on the data pipelines, but others, such as duplicate Hires on the same day for the same assignment and type, were not identified until well into our project during UAT.
The duplicate Hires issue inflates metrics like FTE Gains. Having identified this issue, we’re now having to edit Fusion ETLs to change how these records are recorded/updated, and subsequently edit historical data, which comes with its own inherent risks/challenges. Additionally, we’ve had to delay the full rollout of one of our critical Phase 1 Dashboards until this ETL is changed and historical data cleanup can be accomplished.
Given Oracle understands the pipeline’s extract, transform, and load, we believe it would be a great service to any, but especially new or even potential Oracle FDI customers, for Oracle to create some sort of Fusion data readiness assessment to give customers the confidence that the marketed out-of-the-box metrics will immediately be 1) truly trustworthy or 2) marked/flagged as having an issue in Fusion that needs resolved. As noted above, the rejected records help facilitate this type of data preparedness, but it is not nearly comprehensive. Had this been in place for us, we would have been able to focus on Fusion data hygiene more quickly and planned/communicated accordingly.
