Currently, Author and Restricted Author roles are granted at the application level and cannot be scoped to specific datasets. As a result, users who require authoring access to a custom dataset also receive authoring capabilities across all subject areas they can access (for example HCM subject areas available through Line Manager access). We request the ability to grant author permissions at the dataset and/or subject area level, allowing users to create and edit workbooks only against explicitly assigned datasets while preventing authoring against other subject areas. This would support self-service reporting use cases while maintaining appropriate governance and segregation of duties.
