Need to apply security based on logged in user in subject areas?

Hi,

In on premises oracle analytics DV 2026 connected with Oracle EBS GL need to apply GL security rules so want to know in analytics any session variable is there to get currently logged in user to used in queries? If any standard way is possible please also share or using SQL then need user name to be in variable. thanks

Not sure you really have to define it, it's a system session variable.

Just create a new analysis on any subject area, add a column and edit the formula to be VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.USER) and you will see your username showing there.

Thanks and I am trying to create session variable but getting error as need SQL to get details, even created second pool so two pools like pool1 and pool2 but same error. Yes you are right it is in the semantic model for sure. The GL KFF having multiple segments and each user can have different while it can be range or it can be values with gaps.

Like user1 having no rule on company segment means having access of all

user2 assigned is 1,4,7

user3 assigned 1,2,3

In BIP reports it is implemented using a view but trying same in semantic models but till now no success.

Hi,

Security rules on subject areas are usually set in the semantic model itself, not the front-end. Therefore using DV or "classic" doesn't matter much.

For that, NQ_SESSION.USER should still work to reference the currently connected user.
