As Oracle Analytics environments grow, Data Flows become increasingly difficult to understand, maintain, and support. While the visual canvas shows transformation steps, there is no simple way to generate human-readable documentation currently in OAS or OAC DV that explains the logic and lineage of a Data Flow.
Recommendation
Add an "Explain Data Flow" option on the dataflow screen that automatically generates:
- Source datasets
- Filters, joins, and transformations
- Calculated columns and aggregations
- Output datasets
- Upstream and downstream lineage
- Dependent datasets, workbooks, and dashboards
Using GenAI, Oracle Analytics could convert complex Data Flows into clear business/technical documentation that can be exported to Word, PDF, Markdown, or Confluence-ready formats.
