Why aren't hidden columns in DV pivot table exporting in CSV format?

We were under the impression that when exporting a visualization in DV to CSV format hidden columns would be include from the grammar panel.

This is not happening. See below for a screenshot showing 3 hidden columns that do not appear when exporting the pivot table to CSV.

This seems to have worked a month or so back but no longer does. Any ideas on what may have changed?

We got a response from Oracle engineering that the export not including hidden columns is a bug and will be fixed in the January release.

Hi @Doug Ross - I can't find anything in the docs that guarantees hidden grammar columns are included in a .csv export.

[Export a Visualization]

This page says they're there to affect the grain and support data actions, not to be shown to end users, so the change you're seeing may be intended rather than a bug; you could try:

export the pivot as .xls and see if the hidden columns come through.
Duplicate the visualisation, unhide the columns, and export from the copy. You could also keep a separate export canvas with every column visible.
If the workbook hasn't changed and the behaviour has, raise an SR as a possible regression, with before and after examples.

Interested to hear if anyone else has seen this since the last update.

Thanks, Clare, for your response. We have tried several different options to try and get them to display with no luck.

This blog post seems to indicate they would be exported from back in the January 2025 release.

"Hidden columns (from any visualization type) are included in the result set when exporting to CSV, as well as in global and visualization filters when using the Use as Filter and Keep/Remove Selected features. While this may be acceptable in some cases, it would be helpful to have additional settings in the Properties panel to control whether hidden columns are included in exports or as filters during interaction"

It is also the behavior we see in Classic OAC (OBIEE) where a CSV export includes all the columns on the criteria tab of an analysis.

If it isn't available, it should be. I was hoping to get confirmation before submitting an idea lab entry.

In addition to what Clare mentions above try exporting as .XLSX format. That may or mayn't work.
