I have no Idea what I'm doing wrong I have installed this 7 times now and I keep getting the same error. How do I know what client is this pointing too? I though it was the "path" in windows 7. I have a windows 7 machine I have install virtual 12c image and know I'm trying to work with the RPD. Any advice , or clue on how to fix this would be GREAT!!!

Can you connect to SQL*Plus via command line on your OBIEE server?

Thanks for response. But this is simply setting the connection to the server the has the tables for my RPD, which is not necessarily the OBIEE server.

However, yes I can connect to obiee server with sql plus.

i meant whether you could make a SQL*Plus connection from your OBIEE server to your database.

yes, that's no problem. My issue has to do with the on the local machine which is trying to connect to the database, I have the oracle prepared virtual machine with obiee already installed in it and it can connect to the the specific DB's. RPD tool is just giving me a hard time.

So your developers client which is running the RPD cna't connect to the DB? Do you have some connectivity drivers installed? Can you for example do a tnsping?

yes I can. I can tsnping db no problem. i would really love to know what the OCIEnvNIS is calling? It Leads me to believe that It expects some dll somewhere else.

Does it work if you use the easy connect method instead of tnsnames entry? for example: server1.abc.net:1521/obi1.abc.net ?
