I have a requirement to import BI Catalog metadata to maintain snapshot of folder structure and other metadata. Does OBIEE provide any scripts that can be automated/scheduled to get this data.

Have you already looked at SampleApp? It contains pre-made scripts to analyze webcat contents by pushing them into database tables:
