Which precise version of which product are you talking about? Both sides by the way...your plugin and your Oracle DB with OLAP option.

Hi Christian,
Oracle DB with OLap option is 12 c and excel Plug in is 11g ,thats the latest I could get in the Oracle website to download.
is there version mismatch?
Thanks,
Pallavi

Question: Why are you using that one?

We are doing POC in our company where we want to see if Excel can be used by the business partners as a front end for Oracle olap cube to view reports and data for analysis.
So did some research and found out Oracle provides this plug through which we can integrate Oracle Olap cube .so I was trying to create data source to start off the POC.
Is there any other alternative where we can excel apart from this Plug in ??
Please let me know in case of any further question.

Ok it was a but surprising that you post this into the OBI(SE) community. For OBI the obvious answer is: Smart View. So you only want Oracle OLAP in Excel and I see you already have a whole list of threads over in the OLAP community so why not post this question there? OBI is really different tech stack and the name of the plugin is misleading...

I want to make sure I understand exactly what you tried to do.
Did you download 'Oracle BI excel Plug' from this link? or something else?
Download OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In
The Oracle BI Spreadsheet Add-in is an Oracle Business Intelligence technology not Oracle OLAP.
The OLAP Option of Oracle partnered with Simba who provides an integration point for the OLAP option for use with MS Excel.
This is the recommended way to work with Excel with Oracle OLAP.
Here is a link for this:
Using Microsoft Excel With OLAP Cubes
I am not familiar with the Oracle BI Spreadsheet Add-In. If this is exactly what you are asking about, I would ask the
Oracle Business Intelligence folks about how to use it and getting any forum support for your error.
David
ou may want to post this issue to the BI forum.
