I cannot view the log (for a request) when I go to presentation services Administration -> Manage Sessions. The response I get is "No log found"

You could try setting the LOGLEVEL variable in the 'Advanced' tab of the request and then run the report.
Open the RPD using the Admin Tool and set the log level in the options. 2 = minimum to get physical queries
