Hello,

I want to learn something on obiee about catalog objects owner. In our obiee system, some users have modify privilege (read, write, delete, traverse) on some catalog folders. For example, when a user create dashboard prompt with its owner name (DILEK) under this folder, a few days later its owner change with a different user name (MERVE). So, my question is why owner name changes? What are the causes?

Thank you for your attention.

Regards,

Dilek

Does user (MERVE) has privilege to Catalog Task "Properties" whcih allows you to set ownership of the item?

also if parent folder owner is changed using Catalog Task "Properties"-->"Set Ownership of this item" and "Set Ownership of this item and all subitems" even in that case underlying object owner would change.

Why don't you consider enabling catalog logging for detailed information on same

Ok so going back to your initial Point then:

"For example, when a user create dashboard prompt with its owner name (DILEK) under this folder, a few days later its owner change with a different user name (MERVE). So, my question is why owner name changes? What are the causes?"

You create an object named "DILEK". I delete it and create a new item called "DILEK". I'll be the owner. There aren't 500 possibilities there.

I could not understand what you mean:S  Here, I write the problem very basic. Normally, all folder objects (tens of reports & prompts) owner change to a different user with same owner name and same last modified time.

    Here is the scr;

  • Is the "new" owner the same all the time everywhere in your system?

Does it changes at the same time of the day all the time?

Who is that guy, the new owner: any special role or function in the system / organization?

In your screenshot it's probably inheritance, just like with permission where you can make all the objects underneath  inherit, isn't that the case?

No. Different owners are under different folders in our system.

Does it changes at the same time of the day all the time?

It is not periodic, something (we don't know) triggers the case.

Who is that guy, the new owner: any special role or function in the system / organization?

This guy is like any other guys. All users for some folders have the same privilege (BIAuthor with modify option). This user is one of them. Also it is not specific for this user. Different owners may exist for other folders.

Only BI Admin can change the ownership of items. Any other users can not :S I login as that user and look properties of that folders.

It must be somehting done in bulk. Like archiving the whole Folder and then unarchiving without keeping the security.

Again: If I copy something, delete the old one which is owned by weblogic and then rename my copy to take the place of the old, then I am the owner and no longer weblogic.
