Creating a request variable in BICS
This post is FYI, and not a question.
In on-prem OBIEE, when we create a session variable and tick the 'Allow user to change the value' checkbox, that tick creates a corresponding Request Variable, which we can then set in a dashboard prompt and use in analysis filters.
In this Oracle BICS documentation:
Creating Variables to Use in Expressions
Oracle shows us how to create a variable in BICS that is refreshed "On Sign In", which sounds like a session variable. The documentation does not mention the equivalent of 'Allow user to change the value'.
Just FYI: Creating a BICS variable with the refresh type of "On sign in" creates a request variable automatically, with no additional 'Allow user to change the value' checkbox required.
