Create a deployment on a SAN

Hi all,

I have created a deployment on our 11g install which stores a number of BIP outputs that are burst out to the application server.
These files are then sucked back in to a dashboard to be consumed by the user by a HTML link.

We are looking to migrate to 12c in the upcoming months and will have a clustered environment with a shared SAN.
As far as i'm aware, a deployment can only be created on a folder inside the root directory of the application. Is it possible to point a deployment to a folder outside of root?
