Custom Print and Export Layouts

Question

Hello,

In the 'Edit Dashboard', 'Print and Export' options, you can do a "Create a Layout". When I do that with my dashboard page it redirects me to BI Publisher. I have experience creating a BIP report from scratch using XML templates and Word templates, etc. But I do not have experience with the format I'm redirected to. We are in version 12C (not cloud) and I'm wondering if there is documentation out there on what to do once my dashboard is redirected to the BIP report and data model environment.

Does anybody have experience with this? I can't seem to find much specifically about the report and data model documentation out on the web (for this specifically).

Then in that case, take a look at BI Publisher specific documentation - https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/12213/bip/bip-designreports.htm

It appears that you want to modify the auto generated layout. Hopefully, this document should be of help although at a quick glance, the information looks scanty.

You may actually get more assistance if you post this in the BI Publisher forum

Thank you for the response. I actually have already read through that Oracle doc. The instructions to "edit the layout as desired", etc. are pretty generic and don't solve the problems I'm experiencing. I have a feeling what I'm trying to do is pretty advanced. Is there more detailed documentation available that would walk me through specifically how to edit layout, etc.?

When you select the Create a Layout option, you are redirected to BI Publisher as you rightly mentioned. This allows you to create layout that are used for PDF and/or Excel when the dashboard is exported in either of these formats.

BI Publisher has more control for pixel perfect reporting and printing and exporting.
