Hi,

We are from Decimal Point Analytics Pvt  Ltd and are currently using Microsoft

Power BI for developing interactive dashboards for our clients. We are in the process of evaluating OBIEE to build dashboards for one of our client who is using Oracle DB. We want to transition one of our sample dashboards from Power BI to OBIEE to understand how OBIEE fares against Power BI.

Need your help in this regard.

Thanking you.

  • Hi,

Sorry but ... what do you expect from the forum and/or ODC?

You aren't really asking anything, and based on your statement I can just say: go ahead, do it !

Not sure what help you're expecting to get from ODC as your post doesn't reflect any actual technical issues. If you do come across any issues during your migration, feel free to post with specific detail of the issue and I'm sure someone on here will be happy to assist.

    Hi,

not one to discourage, but this doesn't seem like a like with like comparison.

Technology aside, you have lengthy experience with Power BI and associated database and now you intend with no prior experience of Oracle equivalents to attempt to build an Oracle solution whilst on the beginner slopes of the learning curve to compare its performance against?

If you are serious about the exercise then hire an Oracle specialist and get them to put it together, or try and put together a BI solution using your technology to match something that has been built in Oracle.

Seriously I have been on a number of projects where I have fixed the solutions built without prior experience and typically this has turned BI solutions running in minutes to BI solutions running in < 1 second, where the previous implementer has spent months and I have spent days.

Could not express it better than the other guys.

Just one thing: try to be honest about what you're doing towards the client. If you want to move him to MS...then justr do that. Don't make up fake and substandard "comparisons".

TOTALLY different products ... I use both in professional dealing with clients' information needs ...

PowerBI is built for the analyst

OBIEE is built for the enterprise

^ that right there makes ALL the difference in the world.

I have run into REAL snags with those who confound the two ... especially when trying to force PowerBI as the enterprise tool.

  • Notwithstanding the excellent comments provided.

Some high-level reference information.  The library has blogs and videos that give you a "feel", but as the comments state... partnering would be the best path
