Why do I get this error for pivot tables but not standard tables?

Hi All,

I've come across the 'Exceeded configured maximum number of allowed input records.' error quite a few times now. However, it only seems to be when I use pivot tables. Why would this only happen with pivot tables and is there a way to bypass this error other than applying additional filters to limit the results?

I'm using Oracle Business Intelligence 12.2.1.0.0

Thanks

    Take a look at this:

    https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?_afrLoop=204681011861609&parent=EXTERNAL_SEARCH&sourceId=PROBLEM&…

Although it is an 11g article, the same principle applies to 12g.

    Hi Adam,

re: Joel's very useful link, a word of advice.

User desire for insanely large pivot tables is insatiable. No matter how large you make it they will want it bigger, usually 'because you can do it in excel'.

My reply to this is generally, so you can display 1,048,576 rows by XFD columns in excel, how many can you actually view a time?

Sensible use of prompts / prompt area etc to limit your data is a better option than just endlessly increasing the limits.

    Hi Joel,

Thanks for getting back to me. Although, I'm not able to access the link - it asks me to register and provide a 'Support Identifier'.

Would you be able to tell me the details of what it says?

That's the most illegal thing we could do.

MOS documents are for clients / users with a valid support contract, it's something you need to pay for.

It's illegal to copy/paste content from a MOS document and send it around and even more to post it here in the forum.

If you company bought OBIEE and has a valid license for it you probably also have a support contract (but in this case how come still on the unsupported 12.2.1.0.0 version?), ask the person managing the contract to add you to the company support identifier.

OK, no worries - I can appreciate that. I've managed to get a hold of the Support Identifier so I'll wait until my request gets approved then I'll have a look at the link.

    Thanks for your help
