Is there any resource available which can walk me through how to integrate OBIEE and Jdeveloper to built custom reports and dashboards ?

  • Can you define a bit better what you try to do?

Because OBIEE allows you to build analysis and dashboards without needing any coding or JDeveloper, so you probably have something else in mind ...

@Gianni Ceresabeat me to it. What is your exact use case. Are you trying to do something above and beyond the OOTB OBIEE functionality?

@Rohit Trehan are you the same user as bi_guy?

Because I doubt that it's strictly according to forum rules to use two accounts to ask the same question just to not have it flagged as a duplicate. I'm flagging the other thread as the "bi_guy" is a 5pt newbie which I guess means it's your fallback account.

Yes @Joel I am looking for something OOTB in OBIEE wherein i can create my own filters and want to user to selected the filters one after the other.

    Does that make sense ?

    Thanks

    Rohit

Thanks for replying Gianni, i replied to Joel with the answer.

  • So if you look for OOTB functionality what's the role of JDeveloper?

Open your OBIEE, create a new prompt and add the columns you want. That sounds like what you look for.

I am not sure how to explain:

    1. I am an OBIEE certified developer and I know how to create a prompt.

    2. My post is regarding creating customer OBIEE dashboards using ADF objects in JDeveloper. Does that make sense ?

    Thanks

    Rohit

I may be missing something glaringly obvious but if all you need is OOTB prompts, why do you have to recreate these as ADF objects in JDeveloper?

    Hi Rohit,

I guess what the collected Mensch here are trying to ascertain is; -

"Why do you need to use ADF at all, what are you trying to achieve that makes you throw away the benefits and support of the off the shelf software package that is OBIEE and instead invest in an expensive and risky custom build?"
