Error Codes: OAMP2OPY:E7JI73LX A numeric value was expected

Hi All,
I have two dashboard prompts.
When I enter a text in numeric field I get the below error.
If I check the option - limit values by all prompts on both the prompts and enter text I get the following error.
Error | |
View Display Error | |
Error generating view. Process action error. Error Details Error Codes: OAMP2OPY:E7JI73LX A numeric value was expected (received "sdf"). |
Is there a way to avoid this error or customize it.
Thanks.

Not sure what you expect there. "sdf" simply isn't a number. Is the error message misleading to you?

I do not want the end user to see this error message.
I want to know if we can customize the error message something like "Please enter a valid number"
If we see in the first case where I did not select the "Limit values by" it shows a message "Is not a valid number"
I am expecting something like this.

Yes, you can. The question is: "Should you".
1.) Changes like that affect the WHOLE system.
2.) It's not ONE change as you can imagine and as you can see from your own screenshots.
3.) Most people would just say "change file X" (what you normally find on random blog posts or unfortunately sometimes even in here - an approach which is totally wrong
4.) It's a customization, so if you do not think about HOW to do that customization, how to integrate it into your lifecycle and maintenance process then you will probably wipe out whatever you did as soon as you patch or upgrade.
With all that said:
This is the place. Do your change at your own risk - or better: at the risk of the quality of the implementation of the client.

Hi Christian,
Thanks for your reply and time.
I agree on your thoughts on these customization's.

I want to understand why obiee's response is inconsistent for the below scenario's or am I missing something?
Scenario 1: I entered a text in a numeric field. OBIEE throws the below message.
Scenario 2: I entered a text in a numeric field. OBIEE throws the below error
I did the same thing in both the cases and I receive two different responses.
The only difference is in the second case is I checked the limit values by option for both the prompts.
I expected to see the same message
after I make these changes in the second scenario.
Thanks.

I quite literally can not believe that this is a real scenario:

You are correct.
These are two different screen shots.
I just added to make it easier to understand.
As soon as I enter abc and click on apply, only the error message appears not the prompts.

You mix things (lot of things) ....
Your 2 screenshots come from different systems? different versions? (so you can't really compare the 2)
The first one shows prompts and a message coming from prompts, the second shows prompts and an analysis and the error message come from the analysis. Right?

I apologize for the confusion.
All the screen shots I have added belong to one dashboard prompt and there is no analysis.
Both the message and error message belong to the same dashboard prompts (Scenario 1 and Scenario 2).

Ok, so 1 dashboard page with a single object: the prompt.
This gives you the 2 scenarios if you set the "limits values by" or not.
What version (exact version including bundle patch) is that ?
