Hi Friends,

I was asked to refresh OAC lower environment with data from PROD.

To refresh application tier I will use OAC Console and Snapshots.

But I wonder how to refresh database!

Do I have to ask for that DB admin?

Can I use "Oracle Cloud My services"... I found there Snapshots under "Oracle database cloud service"=>Administration.

Joel's link is good but I'd like to be clear about several things here:

1.) With "OAC" do you really mean "OAC" - so what was called "Autonomous" until a while back - or "OAC Classic" where you have full control?

2.) Because in the context of "OAC" I wonder what you mean with "refresh the database"? In OAC you have no way to access the database underneath OAC (the RCU) for example.

So it would be good to understand what you're actually asking for.

I reviewed the above doc but it is still not clear for me. Should I use Snapshots ..

"Oracle database cloud service"=>Administration=> create Snapshot on PROD and after it is created than choose Navigator=>Create Database Clone ?

Ok so you actually want to clone PROD and make your lower environment a second PROD-like instance? Including cloning the RCU?

I am trying to help you achieve your needs by attempting to be precise.

"with data from PROD" meaning what? The data sources which are used as basis for analyses? Because we tried to point towards the Snapshot already:

I'm aware of these Snapshot, but it do not migrate database data, does it?

I'm logged in to "Oracle Cloud my Services"=>"Oracle database cloud service"=>particular instance=>Administration=> Snapshots=>navigator=>create database clone

One last try: Is that database the source of the data for your analyses or is that the repository database for OACC?

Because OACC does not care one single bit about where its data is coming from. Your data containers are 1000000% independent of OACC and vice versa.

OAC just uses the stuff. It's neither dependent nor responsible for anything about the database.
