OBIEE 12c Catalog Migration Question

Hi All,

We plan to upgrade from OBIEE 12.2.1.1.0 to OBIEE 12.2.1.4.0 and then apply latest budle patch. OS is windows server 2012 R2. Business don't want to stop the releases to Prod during upgrade period. So we plan do following tasks to perform upgrade.

1) Clone Windows server where OBI is Installed. Also clone OBI DB schemas as well

2) Perform upgrade on cloned version and then perform testing

3) Sync OBI RPD & Catalog with upgraded version if any change was made in OBIEE 12.2.1.1.0 as performing cloning

4) Replace the existing Server and OBI db schemas with upgraded version

I have a question to Step 3 catalog sync. What is the best option to sync the catalog before performing the replace in Step 4 ?. Can I replace the entire catalog folder in path to perform the sync ? (C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Home\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\bidata\service_instances\ssi\metadata\content)

Report changes could be in Shared Folder or My Folder.I will run upgrade catalog option in administration screen after coping objects from OBIEE 12.2.1.1.0 to 12.2.1.4.0.
