Add Hierarchy to dashboard prompt

Hi,

I have some question

I created analysis:

And add filters:

And I add Purchasing Category Hierarchy to dashboard prompt:

But when I open a dashboard, and choose some option in prompt, for example:

Nothing happens:

Do I need something extra set or whether there is even an option to use a hierarchy in prompt?

Hi,

When using a hierarchy as prompt you don't filter the analysis by setting "is prompted" on all the levels but you add the hierarchy to the analysis as well and using selection steps you define it can be override by the prompt.

Ok, I understand and it's working.

But I have another question.

When I turn on the prompt in going value, eg: Semi (level 1) - Trans (level2) - Other (level 3), where a semi is the highest level and the other lower. That's when choosing Other analysis shows me all the values of the Other for other top level. This should not be such that a specific group chooses me for the Semi-> for Trans> for the Other?

It's a bit confusing ....

So the correct value of "Semiconduc" > "Transistor" > "Other" is 2'032'632.

But when you filter with your hierarchy in the prompt on "Semiconduc" > "Transistor" > "Other" you have "Other" > "OTHER" > "Other" appearing on screen instead of "Other" below "Transistor" ?

If that's why happen, are you sure about the logical keys your defined in your hierarchies?

Yes, the correct value is 2,032,632.

But when I choose the prompts Semiconduc-> Transistor -> Other (ie other level 3) it appears to me all kinds of other not dependent on Level 1 and 2.

What is the value of Dim - Item.Purchasing Category Hierarchy 8 for the Semiconduc > Transistor > Other rows ?

Is it maybe "Other" ?

Dim - Item.Purchasing Category Hierarchy 8 is a ID, and the Dim - Item.Purchasing Category Hierarchy 8 Name is a lookup table.

"Other" is only from level 3,4...

Top level: Semiconduc

8: Tranzistor..

7: Other..

Good value with using hierarchy (without prompt):

And when I use columns: Top Level, level 8, level 7:

The results agree.

It does not work just the same drill to a designated Level.

I thought maybe I marked "skipped level" but also in the structure is all good.

I know that I can create seperate column prompt for each level and it works well, but it is not very intuitive solution.

I couldn't find an hierarchy like yours with the same value for different branch of the hierarchy so I couldn't try the exact case to see if there is a bug or something.

So I stay on my first impression: that there is a key somewhere not defined in a way to uniquely identify the correct "Other" value in the right branch.

Do you have the issue with wrong number when selecting other elements of the hierarchy in the prompt or only on "Other" ?

Any other value repeated for 2 different parents you can try?

If you have a look at the physical query and you check where it select the wrong "Other" don't you also see there around the logical key you defined that maybe require some more work to make it really unique in the whole hierarchy?
