Licensing for OBIEE 12C and FORECAST() function

When we try to use the FORECAST-function in OBIEE 12c, we are asked to install R. Does this trigger some expensive license, or is it free to use? I do know that Oracle changed their licensing rules so that advanced analytics/machine learning is free, but its hard to understand whether this affects installation of R/use of FORECAST
