Hello,

Here is the thing:

I noticed that when I enter Levels for some columns only some dimensions apper, in my example there is only 2 dimensions (but for others there more - why?)

I also noticed that if I set aggregation (sum ie) for this column, then all dimensions appear, not only 2.

Please help me understand how does it work? Why for some columns all logical dimensions display and for others only some of them?

First, we have to understand whats about the measure level-based measures (measure to a specific level of aggregation) , an example of this, a company might want its revenue based on the year,  quarter, etc.  To achive this YearRevenue, QuarterRevenue, etc, this is the real utility of this.

How to setting an Measure level-based measure in the RPD, please check this link for more detail (  OBIEE 10G/11G - Level-Based Measure Calculations [Gerardnico]  )

Now, with this previous defintions, we return to your question. There is only 2 dimensions??

There is only two dimension because there is a because there is a only two "LOGICAL DIMENSION" created in your "Business Model".

    Check this example:

This is my Business Model (Gerencia Integracion), this have 7 dimensions.

Now check my Logical Star Schema:

    StartSchema.png

A Logical Column to set up the levels of aggregation that you want. Notice that the for example DocumentoPagarDim is not part of the Star Schema.

    Kind Regards,

    Thank you for the answer,

    1. How is the logical star schema relevant to logical levels for column? I cannot see any connection.

You say Notice that the for example DocumentoPagarDim is not part of the Star Schema, but still, what does that change in your example?

    2. Second thing is that I have more  than 2 logical dimensions in business model. I mentioned that: there is only 2 dimensions (but for others there are more - why?)

And also let me repeat this again: When I set aggregation for the same column, suddenly all logical dimensions appear in Levels tab - why?

    3. And one more question, you say:

an example of this, a company might want its revenue based on the year,  quarter, etc.  To achive this YearRevenue, QuarterRevenue, etc, this is the real utility of this.

But even if I don't set any Levels for the measure (Revenue for example) and I create an analysis with this Revenue and Time Hierarchy, I assume that also I will be able to see result based on Month or Year, right? So where is the difference?

The columns which aren't displaying all logical dimensions in the levels tab probably cannot be physically joined to the dimensions it's not displaying.

I don't think it's relevant beause this table joins actually 3 different tables.
