Description

The Oracle Analytics for Applications (OAX) service comes with Exec Focus dashboards (with "cards" showing KPI metrics) - these would appeal to all customers, especially users of BI Dashboards as this type of capability is often requested but complex to deliver in BI Dashboards.

Please can Oracle provide Exec Focus for OAC/OAS customers not just OAX.

Use Case and Business Need

For customers/users of BI Dashboards this would be a super enhancement especially as there are seemingly no other significant enhancements on the roadmap for BI Dashboards.

This is a Key Feature, please provide this in OAS and OAC.

Having this enhanced facility from OAX would be a great step forward.

  • Antony, can you break it down to me? Is the ask for a visual that combines a metric performance tile with a trend (or other) viz below it? Is it the ability to layout the viz's as a deck? something else? I'm trying to understand the specifics of the request.

Hi Gaby, thanks for asking.   In this request, we are asking for the KPI Deck/Card interface to be made available on the OAC/OAS platforms as a standard component, rather than just being available for OAX customers.

Customers often want KPI-style visualisations, and whilst this may sound a simple/obvious request KPIs are actually tough to deliver because of the number of requirements for each KPI (thresholds, targets, layout, % differences, up/down arrows, high/med/low ranges, interactivity etc).  KPIs therefore are large/complex task to deliver.

So the KPI Deck/Card component would be a great step forward in overcoming this issue.

p.s. the request to provide a card interface for DV has been raised in another idea :-)

Please see the mock-up for more idea, We would like to have a Visualization which can be quickly configured as a card.

  • It might not be that quick today, but still possible. In a few months, you will have the ability to add sparkcharts to OAC tiles, and more improvements will come later. For now, you can do it like that.

Please note that I changed the title to indicate what is specifically planned.

Hey Gabby, thanks a lot for the info - sounds positive.   Please can you clarify how we can achieve this in today's product - is it a case of building up the titles, KPIs and graphs in separate visuals and then arranging it so it looks like a single card?    Sorry if I am missing something.....

  • It is not a single visual, basically a tile and a graph below it. We are looking at ways to make sure it is easy to construct something like that (it is not hard, but time-consuming).

BTW, OAX Cards are also not a single visual, it is constructed in a similar way using OAC, it is just that you cannot interact with the pieces (similar to what a BI Consumer will see - which is what an OAX user really is). As it relates to timing, keep in mind that the platform supposed to provide flexibility that a curated App does not. We will not introduce curated concepts that will feel foreign within the platform. Making something specific for one purpose is much quicker compared to making something generic.
