Organization Name

Outfront Media Inc.

Description

We would like to be able to use Smartsheet as an OAC data source.

Use Case and Business Need

OAC serves as our organization's primary analytics dashboard/reporting platform.  At least one other team is using Smartsheet for a project and that information now needs to be made available at our single source of truth (ie OAC).

We need to be able to access the data from Smartsheet to build out the required OAC Project.

Based on Generic JDBC support, not a specific built-in driver.

Agreed. What happened to the generic ODBC data connector? We used to have this in OAC. Was it deprecated and removed, or is there something that we need to do? Please advise.

  • It was removed from OAC Managed because of the requirement to upload the driver into the compute. This is a significant security risk in a managed cloud environment because drivers are active code with access to critical OS services. To address that, we are building support for generic JDBC with Data Gateway, planned to show up before OOW if all goes well.

  • @Alan Lee-Oracle @Farivar Javanbakhti-Oracle I believe it is planned based on the last connector Audit. Can you confirm?

  • As stated above, Generic JDBC was reintroduced into OAC utilizing Remote Data Gateway (late 2020), so this one can either be 'delivered' (customer should try to use the smartsheet LiveData connector), or 'declined' as we do not plan to add a built-in connector.
