SQL Logical query available as session variable
Organization Name
Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A.
Description
A powerful feature would be to make somehow available the logical SQL as a session or system variable in an RPD, for use in Data Visualization RPD-based projects.
This would enable a whole new level of dynamic (data model or DV project calculated) field definition, whose expression can be based for example on the presence of specific fields in the select or filter list of the logical query being executed.
We had some customer requests that would have been feasible if the query context had been available for parsing.
Use Case and Business Need
Use cases need the full context of the (quite complex) data model to be described, but in general it can be used, in the RPD, for dynamically decide what physical column a particular measure should be based on, in cases where the logical table source definition (in the fragmentation or aggregation "flavors") cannot fulfill the request.
More details
Ther is no context of the logical query being executed available as predefined session or system level variable for use in field definition, at the logical or presentation level.
