Data Load Parameters in OBIA

HI All ,
I am here having one doubt in OBIA 11.1.1.10.1 about the data load parameters in biacm .
I am finding the same link in the biacm and perform functional configuration link and the two links I am seeing the same parameters like Initial Extract Date for ETL and all other parameters .
What is the difference if do the change the value in the parameters in the biacm(bi configuration manger) and functional configuration tab .
could you please share your experience on this .
Thanks

Hi -
Here is a summary, based on Oracle materials (you'll have to dig through to get a complete understanding).
Functional configuration for OBIA is done using the following tools:
- Configuration Manager (BIACM)
- Functional Setup Manager (FSM) - This is what you are seeing when you click on: Functional Configurations > Perform Functional Configurations (via BIACM)
OBIA Configuration Manager is a web application for setting up and maintaining an OBIA environment
Configuration Manager contains the setup objects for OBIA. It provides administrative graphical user interface for setup and configuration. It is the recommended product for ongoing administration and maintenance of functional setup within OBIA. It also provides a quick review of OBIA setup values, and is the recommended tool for monitoring and troubleshooting load plan executions. Configuration Manager works in conjunction with Functional Setup Manager to provide guided tasks to configure OBIA offerings and functional areas.

Functional Setup Manager is a web application that enables you to manage and perform functional configuration tasks for OBIA offerings.
Functional Setup Manager is installed and deployed as part of OBIA. In FSM, you select the OBIA offering and functional areas that you wish to deploy. FSM generates a list of configuration tasks specific to the offering and functional areas that were selected. These tasks can be assigned to different functional developers and the status of the OBIA implementation project can be monitored in FSM. Setup user interfaces guide functional developers through the performance of each task. The key point here is you should use the guidance presented in Functional Setup Manager's list of tasks to perform your initial configurations

So, I think the takeaway here is that either may work. But, typically, beyond the inital configuration you'll just use the BIACM.

I can understand your question.
Basically FSM is the application which help you to perform number of actions to implement particular offering. For example if you choose Financial Analytics as offering then you will see links to configuration pertaining to the Finance including some common config.
Here you can also use FSM to configure initial extract date since initial extract date configuration link is given there however you can find actual config in BIACM. It is your choice to do this configuration in BIACM directly or do it after coming through FSM.
Basically FSM help you manage all configuration task in one place where some of the tasks goes to BIACM for configuration and some are information only and/or can be done outside of BIACM/FSM.
