BI PUB uploading rtf to convert to etext file type

Hi,
How to upload a ms-word made rtf to make it a etext file type? I want to send it as a text file.
Once uploaded all I see is the actual RTF not the data in the format. Not sure what i am doing wrong.

Did you create the e-Text template as per the guide here ? https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/bi.1111/e22254/create_etext_tmpl.htm#BIPRD2908
If so while uploading the template you can choose eText as the template type
