OBIEE 12c Patch 25610885 - Should my version increment?

Question

I noticed in [My Oracle Support] that there was a new patch out for the OBIEE 12c version I just installed

I currently have 12.2.1.2 and I see there is patch 25610885 now - making it version 12.2.1.2:170418

I installed the patch and did not get any errors. It looks like it finished with Opatch successful.

I also ran the command opatch lsinventory and I confirmed that I can see the patch in the list.

But when I go to look at my OBIEE version I still see 12.2.1.2 - would it not update to version 12.2.1.2.170418?

So my question is: Shouldnt the obiee version increment to 12.2.1.2.170418?OBIEE 12c Patch 25610885 - Should my version increment?

Its a super minor thing, but just wanted to make sure im not seeing things or I am missing something

why am i not surprised with OBIEE?  you'd think each new patch/version should improve on the previous release.

I took your advice and just sent a ticket to Oracle and this was their reply

There is a known bug on this issue and it would be taken care in the future releases

The bug Bug 23189224 - OBIEE 12.2.1.160419 APRIL BUNDLE PATCH DOES NOT UPDATE VERSION NUMBERS

I would be adding this bug to the SR as active participant a Dev would be knowing how many customers has effected due to this.

At least on the Administration link it should've updated the Build number.  I'd seen it update when patching a previous version.  Maybe submit a ticket with Oracle support to double check and let us know what they say.
