OBIEE 12.2.1.2 performance after installation

Hi,

I just successfully installed OBIEE 12.2.1.2 on Redhat 7.3 OS.

But I'm facing this performance issues, when I tried to create visualization using new Visual Analyzer Projects and connect to mysql database as new datasource, it goes really slow and eventually failed.

Also when i tried to log into EM it takes more than 5 minutes.

I also installed OBIEE 12.2.1.3 but same issues appear

Does anyone has same experience? What did i miss?

This is almost impossible for anyone to answer, but some thoughts to get you started that may lead you to ask more specific, answerable question:

Does your system meet the minimum hardware requirements?
What's the memory, CPU, load look like while your environment is idle?
What's the memory, CPU, load look like when you try going into VA or adding that datasource, or logging into EM?
What are your logs telling you?
You need to figure out where your bottleneck is and proceed from there.

As mac said that's basically impossible to say and without proper analysis anything along the lines of "set GO_FASTER= TRUE and ACCELERATOR=42" kind of responses are just blindly throwing rocks at the issue

If you provide some answers for Mac2 questions it will help.

Also:

1. What type of authentication are you using to get into OBIEE VA and EM? LDAP/Active Directory?

2. If using AD, can you ping the AD server from OBIEE machine properly?

2. Can you ping, check the connectivity to database server?

Hi all,

I'm using VM with RHV Platform and the RCU is installed on oracle RAC database.

For additional info :

- The RAM is 16Gb with 2 processor.

- The memory condition is 50% or higher free when i logged into EM or VA or add datasource.

- The log shows no error.

- I use weblogic authenticatication (only 1 user available - fresh installment)

- Ping to rcu db is ok.

if i used RAC database which is the best way to create rcu :

- before obiee configuration (using .rcu)

- along with obiee configuration (using .config.sh) at Database details - create new schemas

Hi Rajesh,

it takes 3-5 minutes to stop and +-30 minutes to start OBIEE 12c service.

I have tuned the weblogic, heapsize, pool connections as per the guidelines.

but I have yet tuned the OS (tcp_fin_timeout and limits.conf)

Aren't you just having the java "random vs urandom" issue?

A long start time often point to that as one of the first things, so look at your entropy when you are about to start and during the start process and fix that one if too low.

I check the entropy on the start process. The value is about 3000 to 3200.

I installed on local environment (windows 8 and db 12c). it works fine.

does the obiee 12c work for VM (RHV platform) and Db (oracle RAC db) ?

Hi Rico,

+/- 30 minutes to start OBIEE 12c service is unacceptable. In general it should take 3 to 5 minutes to start the OBIEE service.

As mentioned by Gianni, check the entropy setting in the linux server. I believe the slow start is mainly due to wait for the new entropy getting generated. And this could solve your original issue as well.

The entropy is normal on the start process. it's about 3000-3200

and the entropy poolsize is default 4096.

does the obiee 12c work for VM (RHV platform) and Db (oracle RAC db) ?
